A Jamestown man has been arrested in connection with the theft of numerous items
from a Russell County Sheriff's Deputy's patrol vehicle....including a rifle and
tactical equipment.
Chief Deputy Clete McAninch told WJRS NEWS a sheriff's department truck assigned to
Deputy Bobby Pritchard was broken into at Pritchard's home on John Street in the
Bernard Ridge community sometime Wednesday night. Items stolen included an AR-15
rifle, a tactical vest, a door battering ram, digital camera and other
smaller items.
Deputy McAninch said a canvas of the neighborhood Thursday resulted in information
which lead several officers to a residence at 435 East Cumberland Avenue in
Jamestown last evening. A search of the residence resulted in the recovery of the
sheriff's department rifle, the digital camera and other items.
Still missing are the tactical vest and door ramming device.
24 year old Dustin Stephens was arrested and charged with two counts of Receiving
Stolen Property. Stephens was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. The
investigation is continuing by Sheriff Lee Smith and his Deputies.
