A man suspected in a string of bombings in Austin killed himself early Wednesday as authorities tried to capture him, police say.
The suspect set off an explosive device in his vehicle as SWAT team members were closing in on him in Round Rock, Police Chief Brian Manley said. A SWAT officer also shot at the vehicle.
Austin television station KVUE identified the suspect as Mark Anthony Conditt of Pflugerville.
Conditt, who is either 23 or 24, was home-schooled by his mother and attended Austin Community College's Northridge Campus from 2010-12. He did not graduate from the school, a spokeswoman told the Texas Tribune.
He reportedly worked for Crux Semiconductor in Austin and also repaired computers.
