Re: Water patrol abuse of power
I have been a houseboat owner at Lees Ford Marina for over 20 years. During that time, I have always appreciated the job water patrol has done to keep the lake a safe place to boat. This year, we have observed a significant change in the role of water patrol. Rather than being out on the water look...

E, You should really drain the engine and manifolds of all water before adding your antifreeze. That is the way all the professional shops do it. If not, you run the risk of the ~2 gallons of water remaining in the engine block to dilute the antifreeze too much to properly protect the engine. There ...

The parachute idea would probably not work because of the amount of force it would exert on the hull and the time it takes to get one to deploy, especially if wet. It would no doubt rip the transom out of the boat.

So, let me guess. You winterized it yourself? The pump and strainer you circled is the raw water pump and strainer for the A/C system. I am going to post this here, as well as send an update to all my member policy guidelines for the 2013 boating season. Due to logistical issues and other circumstances, MARINE ASSIST will no longer go into Jack's Branch proper in Harmon Creek during any of the major event weekends to assist boaters...

Re: Desk / Table Top Wraps

Most of the ones with U shaped logs are foam filled, but they get heavy over time. As long as a pontoon does not have a hole in the TOP of it wher...

Re: Thank you Marine Assist and Unlimited Marine

Re: Windless
OK, first of all.... Windlass, with an A. It does say right on the side of the capstan it takes a rope to chain rode. It is also not a free fall type windlass. It is a power down, power up windlass. You can purchase a rope/chain rode already properly spliced. It says 1/2" rope right on it. Personall...

Re: Fire at State Dock?
According to Bill, there was a pair of shore power cords plugged into an outlet leading to a boat. The power cord has spent a lot of time in the water and failed, shooting sparks under the dock. That set the dock floatation on fire. There was damage to a section of dock and an enclosure on one of th...
